CPSC eFiling Deadline: July 8, 2026 — Now in Effect

CPSC's eFiling rule became mandatory on July 8, 2026. Since that date, the data from your certificate of compliance must be filed electronically with U.S. Customs at the time of entry for most regulated consumer products.

What happens if you're not filing?

If certificate data isn't filed correctly at entry, your shipment can be delayed or held. Conversely, CPSC has indicated that importers with a track record of compliant filings will see reduced inspections and shorter hold times — so being ready is both a risk you avoid and an advantage you gain.

Your filing checklist

1. Inventory your regulated products. List every SKU subject to a CPSC rule — children's products (CPC) and general-use products (GCC) alike.
2. Confirm you have current test reports. For children's products, testing must come from a CPSC-accepted lab. Make sure each product's testing is current.
3. Gather the required data per product. Product identifier, applicable citations, date and place of manufacture, date of testing, testing lab, and certifier contact.
4. Set up your CPSC Product Registry account and decide how you'll file: manual entry, CSV bulk upload, or API.
5. Coordinate with your customs broker so the certificate data reaches CBP's ACE system at entry.
6. Pick a filing method that scales. Manual entry is fine for a few products; for a real catalog, automate it.
